Shakudo nagamarugata tsuba with a nanako background, inlayed in gold and suaka takazogan.
The design depicts a rakan holding a tentacle. Around him are depicted other rakan attributes: almsbowl, ruyi, “hos-su”/ fly whisk, knotty staff.
Rakan are the Japanese equivalent of Chinese arhats, the legendary disciples of Buddha.
