Description

Sabi – nuri lacquer (lacquer imitating the texture of the rusted iron) Kawari kabuto ornated with a twisted metal mimi and two fukigaeshi decorated with mitsu tomoe (mon used by few families such as Funakoshi and Hashimoto).

The shape of this one plate hachi is inspired by the sallet helmet, made in Europe during the 15th Century. The shapes in the front part stem from the shapes of that style, as well as the hole that allowed the person who used it to see.

Remarkable is the originality of the onigawara tile shaped kashira date, in lacquered wood, ornated with a rare motif: dango mon (dango is a japanese cake).

beginning of the Edo epoch.
